Preferences

The Preferences page is where you set your defaults for how Nekst displays information and behaves day-to-day.

Open it from Settings → Preferences in the left sidebar.

Preferences cover four things:

  • Daily Email Update
  • Tasks Display
  • Dependent Task display
  • Show Empty Detail Boxes (default)

Daily Email Update

Nekst can email you a morning summary of what's due today, anything past-due, and your top upcoming Key Dates. The email arrives around 5:30 AM EST each morning.

Use the Daily Email Update toggle on the Preferences page to turn it on or off.

Tasks Display

Two settings control how your task list looks inside each transaction.

Show or Hide Completed Tasks

Choose whether completed tasks appear in your task list by default.

  • Show Completed Tasks by Default — completed items always visible
  • Disable for a cleaner list that only shows open tasks

You can still expand completed tasks manually at any time inside a transaction.

Default Task View

Pick which group of tasks appears first when you open a transaction:

  • Due Today
  • Past Due
  • No Due Date
  • All Tasks

Match the view to how you work:

  • Daily rhythm → Due Today
  • Catch-up mode → Past Due
  • Oversight view → All Tasks

The selection applies to every transaction automatically.

Dependent Task Display

When a task has Dependent Tasks linked to it, choose how they appear by default:

  • Minimized — cleaner list, with a chevron to expand on demand ( v 3 Dependent Tasks)

  • Expanded — every dependent task always visible ( ^ 3 Dependent Tasks Displaying)

Minimized dependent tasks

Expanded dependent tasks

See Dependent and Proceeding Tasks for how to build these task relationships.

Show Empty Detail Boxes

By default, Detail Boxes you haven't filled in are hidden from each transaction's Details page. Toggle this preference if you'd rather see every box — including the empty ones — by default. The Details page also has a per-view checkbox so you can flip the setting quickly without changing the default.

See Detail Boxes: Manage Any Information You Want for how Detail Boxes work.

Works on web and mobile

These preferences apply across the Nekst web app and mobile app, so your view stays consistent wherever you work.
