Displaying your Roles
Your roles now carry an order you set, and that order shows up everywhere roles appear in Nekst — role pickers, task assignments, the Workflows filter, a transaction's Team Members and Transaction Parties panels, and the Client Portal.
Reordering is done on Settings → Setup → Custom Roles. Only a team owner or administrator can reorder roles.
Reorder your roles

- Go to Settings → Setup → Custom Roles.
- Grab a role by the grip handle on its left.
- Drag it to where you want it and let go.
The new order saves the moment you drop — there is no Save button.
If a save fails, the list snaps back to its previous order and shows an error, so you are never left looking at an order that didn't actually save.
Manager stays at the top
The Manager role has no grip and always stays first. You can't drag it or drop another role onto it. This holds even if you've renamed Manager to match your title.
Sort A–Z in one click
Use Order Alphabetically above the list to sort every role by name at once. It's a fast starting point for a long list. Manager stays at the top, and you can keep dragging afterward.
Mark a role as assignable

When you add or edit a role, you'll see a checkbox: This role will be assigned tasks to complete.
Check it for roles that actually get work — your Transaction Coordinator, Assistant, or Listing Agent. Leave it unchecked for roles that never do (a Buyer, Seller, or Lender).
Only roles marked this way appear in the assignment dropdown of a Task Box — both on the Workflows page and in an active transaction. That keeps the list short, points you at the roles you assign work to, and helps you avoid assigning a task to the wrong role.
Unmarking a role doesn't cut it off from communication. A role that isn't marked assignable can still receive Email and SMS messages — it just won't show up as a choice for completing a task.
Where the order shows up
The order you set applies everywhere roles are listed, for every member of your team:
- Team Members and Transaction Parties panels on a transaction
- Every role picker and dropdown — assigning a task, adding someone to a transaction, choosing an email recipient
- The role filter on the Workflows page
- The Contacts section of the Client Portal
- The mobile app
- When one person holds several roles, those roles list in your order too
New and restored roles
- A new role is added at the bottom of the list.
- A role you restore from Hidden Roles also returns to the bottom, not to its old spot.
- Roles sitting in Hidden Roles have no grips and are not part of the order until you restore them.
Notes
- The order is stored per team. One team's order never affects another's.
- Reordering is done in the web app. The mobile app and Client Portal follow your order but don't offer a way to change it.
- The Public API and Zapier keep their current ordering, so existing integrations aren't affected.
