Creating a PDF Report from a Transaction
Using the Nekst API, users can generate custom reports for compliance purposes or to share with other Transaction Parties.
How to Create and Use an API Token in Nekst
This article explains what an API token is, why you might need one, and how to create it in Nekst. No technical background required.
What is an API token?
An API token is like a secure key that allows another app or tool to connect to your Nekst account.
Think of it like this:
- Your email + password lets you log in to Nekst
- An API token lets another tool securely talk to Nekst on your behalf
Is an API token safe?
Yes, as long as you treat it like a password.
Important rules:
- Anyone with your API token can access your Nekst data
- Do not email it, post it, or share it publicly
- Only share it with tools or people you trust
If a token is ever compromised, you can delete it and create a new one.
Step 1: Login to the Report Generator with an API Key
- Log in to your Nekst account
- Go to your Settings Page -> API Tokens: https://app.nekst.com/settings/apitokens
- Click the blue "Create Token" button

- Give the token a name (example: “Reporting Tool” or “Nekst Reports”)
- Leave the Expiration At blank
- Click Submit

Your API Token will be created and partially hidden. You will need to fully reveal your API Token code and copy it, by clicking the copy icon at the end of the token.
ou will need to expose the token and copy it in full, to paste into the API field in the Nekst Report Generator "Settings" page where the API Key needs to be added.

Add the key at the time of Login:

Update your Profile
The fields you add in your profile will appear in the top right corner of the PDF Report, including the Email Phone #, Name and Company Name.
Generating a Report
Once your API has been added, go back to the Reports page and you will see the button to "Load Transactions".
This will allow you to search your Active, Closed or Archived transactions to create a report. Select a Transaction to create your report.
Customizing Your Report
User can choose which particular fields that want to include on a report.
Those fields that are in BOLD indicate that there is a value (date, text, currency amount) within that field. Those fields that are not in bold are empty.
Users can drag and rearrange the fields to create an Order for the report. This order will be saved and applied to future reports with the same Type (Pending Buyer, Pending Seller, Listing, etc)
You can add custom comments for the report as well as select which transaction parties you want to include on the report.

The report will save as a PDF on your device.
Common questions
Will this affect my Nekst account?
No. Creating an API token does not change your account or workflows.
Can an API token make changes in Nekst?
Not from the Report Generator. But should you want to make updates from a 3rd party tool - Yes. Tokens have the same access as your account unless otherwise limited. Only create tokens when needed.
